For the Gruškovje batas Border Shop commission, Slovenian architecture firm Enota designed a 550m2 store situated batas between two roads. Since the project has an “undemanding program”, the architects decided to create a recognizable entity that would be treated in two different ways, depending upon which road the object was viewed.
The simple volume batas is an exercise on facade treatment as a way to construct an identifiable building, even if people are driving past the site. The project contains irregular geometries of seemingly folded planes that envelope a standard inner compartment. The roof and the longer sides are wrapped in a gold colored treatment while the two opposing surfaces are positioned to create a funnel shaped entrance.
